Late Meiji Japanese Blue-Ground Satsuma-Style Jardiniere, Bronze Stand
A substantial and visually commanding Japanese blue-ground Satsuma-style jardiniere, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century (late Meiji period). The generously proportioned porcelain body is finished in a soft powder-blue glaze and lavishly decorated with an intricate arrangement of auspicious medallions, floral motifs, scrolling forms, and symbolic imagery, executed in finely controlled raised enamels and highlighted with delicate gilt accents.
Radiating hairline lines visible at the interior are original kiln-stress cracks, inherent to the firing of large porcelain forms and not the result of later damage.
The jardiniere is presented on an ornate cast bronze stand, richly patinated and sculpted with scrolling feet, which elevates the vessel and enhances its architectural presence. The combination of porcelain and bronze creates a strong decorative object intended for formal interiors, collectors, or designer installations.
