Vintage Asian Celadon Frog Vase | Hand-Glazed Stoneware Miniature Old Estate 4”
Offered here is a charming vintage Asian celadon-glazed stoneware miniature vase, measuring approximately 4 inches in height. Despite its small scale, the piece features wonderful detail, including a sculptural frog motif climbing the shoulder and a softly domed finial lid.
The vase is finished in a soft green celadon glaze with natural tonal variation, glaze pooling, and subtle kiln speckling—hallmarks of hand-glazed studio or workshop production rather than modern mass manufacture. The frog is integrally modeled, not applied, indicating intentional craftsmanship.
The recessed, unglazed foot ring shows expected kiln wear and age-appropriate surface texture. There is minor glaze wear and firing irregularity around the inner rim/foot ring, visible in close-up photos. This appears consistent with kiln or firing-related wear, not later damage, and does not affect stability or display.
No maker's mark is present, which is common for earlier decorative or utilitarian wares. Based on glaze, form, and construction, the piece is believed to date to the early-mid 20th century, possibly earlier, though no definitive attribution is claimed.
✨ A beautifully scaled miniature object with strong visual presence—ideal for a scholar's shelf, cabinet of curiosities, or Asian ceramic collection.
